Commission a Forever Doggie Portrait

"We were blown away by Shelley’s poignant capture of our Egerton experience, and the imagination of our Pups. An unbelievable Christmas present!"
Ron & Nancy

Dog portraits were a gift. Several years ago, I became a vendor at the Melrose Trading Post in Los Angeles. Twenty minutes was all it took for me to decide it was probably not a great place for me or my art. I mentioned this to the guy in the next booth who asked me if I had ever painted a dog portrait. I stared into the eyes of his dog and the next think I knew I was painting him. The following week with a sign outside my booth, I had a queue of eager dog owners lining up to have their doggie portraits done.

I’m fascinated by people and their relationships with their dogs. It's always about love. I'm drawn to the eys. They're round, often sad, and always evocative. I love how unique every dog is. I’ve painted a three-legged dog, dozens of rescues, some with pink hair, some in clothes, blind dogs, very old dogs, and puppies bursting with joy.

Working as the resident artist for The Red Carnation Group has afforded me the wonderful opportunity of painting dog portraits whilst the guests of Egerton House enjoy afternoon tea with their pets. It’s about connection and people and the magic of the hotel. The dogs have tea too, and it’s fun.

I'd love to paint yours!
